SC Daily Meditations

"A gradual canticle. When the Lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted. Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Going they went and wept, casting their seeds. But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves. “
Psalm 126 (DRB)

There is always sun after a storm.

It often happens that we run into a difficulty. It may be our fault or simply somebody hated us strong enough. Or it could be just a matter of circumstances. But it doesn’t matter what caused it. God is well able to deliver us.

Probably you remember a story of Josef (the one from the book of Genesis) and all difficulties he was going through. How he could be able to live in a joy with such a past? There is one main reason; the same which took place in a life of Job and many other servants of God. And this is not the matter of an acceptance of a hardship but the matter of power of God’s blessing which is pour out after. The blessing poured out on Josef was so great that he forgot completely about his past. And then he could say - this is God who sent me there before you. This is a God’s problem to deal with the hardship but on our side is to expect the blessing. Josef had to be prepared to accept such a big financial responsibility. And that means that in time of his trouble he was cooperating with God, growing and maturing. If he wouldn’t be mature, God wouldn’t be able to bestow on him such an amount of money because it would destroy him. But still it doesn’t mean that God sent that hardship but that God turned it around. Likewise is in our life; we have to learn to bring fruits in every situation because this is preparing us for receiving blessing and glory. You don’t have to accept the hardship but you must cooperate with God to shape your character so the solution shall come quick.
