“And this is the declaration which we have heard from him and declare unto you: That God is light and in him there is no darkness.
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another: And the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar: and his word is not in us.
My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. “
1 John 1:5-2:2

Be Holy!

God is light! There is no darkness in God, not even a little. He is pure love, goodness and righteousness. His thoughts are 100% light.

How about us?

We are his children, and as children we should resemble our Father. We should be like He is, therefore, we cannot walk in the darkness. Every time we sin, we enter the darkness. The more we sin, the further we go into the darkness, and further from our Father.

There are three main levels of sin: works, words and thoughts.

Most of us pay attention only to the first one, and it is the most obvious. We think, that, if we did nothing wrong, we did not sin. Although, very often we say something, what is a sin. We talk in anger, we intimidate people, we curse and we lie (to mention just few).

There are no such things in our Father. If we want to be a light, as He is, we have to clean our tongue. We have to make sure, that from our mouth comes out only blessing.

Unfortunately, this is not all. Jesus himself set up yet another standard. He said, that if we think about bad things(i.e. adultery, theft, or something of smaller importance), we have already sinned. This is a whole new level of holiness! If you can keep your mouth shut, you are really good, but if you can keep your thoughts clean, you are moving towards excellency!

Interestingly enough, that is what God expects from us, nothing less. So if you keep your works in order, it is not good enough. God simply wants us to be like Him! He wants us to be light on Earth. A light for people, who do not know him. Let's not disappoint him!
