SC Daily Meditations

“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”
1 Cor. 13.1-3

We are nothing without love!

Probably, none of us is planing to do all the things mentioned above. Although, if you would do even a few of them, you are still nothing without love. I must add – in eyes of God. You may be very popular among people, though. You may become a celebrity on TV by doing that, but it will mean nothing to God.

In reality, whatever you do, it must be based on love, in order to be acknowledged by God. In order, to be counted as good works. Our good works and fruits of our spiritual life will bring for us a reward in Heaven. In other words, besides the fact, that we can go to Heaven, there is also a reward there. So, depending on how, and what you did on Earth, you will get a corresponding reward in Heaven. One bigger, other smaller, and some nothing at all.

Let's focus on love for a moment. God the Father is love and Jesus is love. Since, we are sons and daughters of God, we also must resemble them in that aspect. Whatever Jesus did, he did it, out of love. So should we. Whatever we do, love is the most important thing in our life. It cannot be replaced by anything. We are nothing without love!
